Advice for the class 2016

8th grade isn't much different from 7th. There are a couple differences like the teachers, resource, and field trips. You will have some different teachers but some of the same. They will trust with more stuff and they will give you more room to work. On the other hand they will expect you to get your work done on time. If you don't there will be a punishment. For resource the new thing will be honors. Honors is for kids that get above a C in every class. I would suggest you get in it because it much more relaxed and you can talk with your friends without getting in trouble.  Finally the field trips. The field trips are so much better then the one you had in 7th grade. The best one is 6 flags. It was a blast this year. Everybody had fun and there is something for everybody to do there even if you don't like rides. So if you stay out of trouble that is something to look forward too. That is my advice for you for 8th grade.

Reflection

Over the year I have noticed what I'm good at and what I'm not so good at. I've become better at things like using a stronger vocabulary and understanding what a thesis is better. Those have made my scores go up a lot as the year went on. However at the beginning of the year I wasn't the best writer. One my first essays I scored a 70%. Luckily it didn't count as a score. Another thing is that my teachers helped me, by teaching me stuff that I was very good at and it helped a lot. I improved on my essays and on one of my last essays I scored a 94%. I finished the year with an A instead of a C-. That is how my year in LA went.

High School Experience

Last Thursday at the High School activity it helped me a little. The thing that it helped me with is I got to meet the Vice Principal. The thing that I liked about is that we got free ice cream and got to talk to a high school student that we will see in the halls next year.That is what I thought about the activity last Thursday.

Raymond's Run

This is Based on the character of Rosie for Raymond's Run.
When I was little all the other kids picked on me because I was different. Nobody ever wanted to play with me at the playground or anything. Then as I started to get older I would pick on other kids because of what it did to me when I was 5. Ever since I started I've been getting more friends and having people to hang out with. That is why Squeaky and me aren't friends.
One day, I was taking a daily stroll down the block with Gretchen. Then we saw Raymond with his sister Squeaky. I started to make fun of Raymond like I always do. Calling him stupid and making fun of his physical appearance. Then this time his sister Squeaky started to fire names back at me. It was what always happened when we ran into each other.
So after getting by her we decided to head back to my place and talk about what event we were going to do the following day at the races. I don't like to run so I don't enter I just go to watch Gretchen. She never wins because of the girl I despise the most.
The following day I went to watch Gretchen at the races. Of course I saw Squeaky and her brother there. They were just minding there own business so I let them be. It was race time so I set up to the side of the track and watched. Like always Gretchen didn't win but it was a fun day. That day was good also because I grew a little respect for Squeaky because I saw her watch her brother for the first time in my life.

My New Book

Today we went to the library to find a book to read for an essay. After searching for a book I finally just gabbed the first one I could find. After checking it out I decided to read the back. I found the book Redwall is about a mouse that has to set off on a journey for a legendary weapon. It should be a fun read if I can ever start reading.

Spring Break

On day 3 of our trip we went to Sea World. We have planned to go to the shows and go one a couple of rides. The Shamu show wasn't the best but there were some cool parts in it. The only bad part about the show is the trainers couldn't get in the water and swim around with the whales.  I think the reason they don't get into the water anymore is because of the accident that took place last year. But they are making a new show and maybe that one will be better so if I go back again maybe I'll see that show and like it a little more. That is something I did in the past week.

How will I go down in history?

I would like to be a person that will be remembered as a good friend. I have control of this because if I'm not a good friend now then they won't remember me by that.  I think that I will remember this school year 10 years from now because it is the last year before I enter high school. I don't know what others will remember me for but hopefully it is for something good.

Conclusion

1. Slaves because the South wanted them and the North was against it.  So the North decided to fight for their freedom and the South was fighting to keep them.

2. Gettysburg and it affected the outcome because there was a lot of people killed so each side was a little weaker after the battle.

3. Abraham Lincoln and he impacted the war because he was the President and helped the North win the war.

Reflection

Looking back at what I did in order to get this story done, I think that I used my time wisely. The notes were probably the easiest thing to do during this project. I found finishing that story with 5 footnotes the hardest because I barely finished it on time. One of the things that I could of done to improve my story was to look back over it and read it before I handed it in. Since I didn't have any time I couldn't do that. That is my reflection to this project.

Interview

Question 1- What was the worst thing you saw during your journey?
Response- There were a lot of bad things but the worst was seeing Lincoln's killer in a burning barn begging for death.
Question 2-Was there ever a time that you thought you weren't going to catch him?
Response- Well there was. It was when we have lost his horse trail and couldn't find anybody who saw him, but lucky we found somebody who did.
Question 3- How did it feel when you saw John W. Booth get shot?
Response- Well it felt wrong and like he didn't deserve it but then I remembered what he did and it made me feel much better.

Football

There are many things that makes football great. Maybe it's the Sundays with all the NFL football games. The hard hitting and the huge plays that end up on sports-center's top ten.  Almost boy dreams that one day he could play on a NFL team. Not for the money but because they love the sport so much. Some people love the sport so much they've been to every Superbowl and they hope to go to many more.

Avatar

Avatar is by far the best movie I've ever seen.  There's tall blue people running around in the wild. Animals that can kill anything that gets in its way. It is over 2 hours of action. War spills out between the avatars and human. Some of the most important people in the movie die or come close to dying. The coolest thing about the movie is their hair. It can combine with animals to control them. If you haven't seen the movie yet,  I highly suggest you do.

A conversation between the main character and someone else on your story

Person 1- Hi. I'm going to be the leader of this chase. If you don't like the idea of that get out of here otherwise lets go over the plan.

Person 2- I think that we should travel in small groups and move southward until we get some clues.

Person 1- That's a good idea. We will go with that plan. Is there anything else that somebody wants to add?
Person 2- No
Person 1- Ok good. So lets get on our horses and move out.

Crowd- Yes, sir!
Person 2- Wait, we're riding?

Person 1- Yes that is the only way we will be able to catch him.
Person 2- Well that's going to be a problem.
Person 1- Why is that?
Person 2- Because I forgot my horse.

Civil War Article

There are 10 things that a lot of people don't know but they probably should.  The one of the 10 that surprised me the most was that more people died from diseases then from war.  It surprised me because in history class you never hear about the diseases you just hear about the killing. That is why it surprised me.  This article won't really help me in my research because it wasn't about chasing John W. Booth it was more about what happened during the war. 

Steam of consciousness

How long will this chase take? Will he kill one of us? I wonder where he would hide. Maybe in a barn or somewhere away from town.  Hopefully I don't get shot because then nobody will  be there for my family. If nobodies there who will take care of Frank as he grows up. That won't happen because I'm going to stop him. Or will he stop us first? Will he get away before any of us get to him? John W. Booth must die before he strikes again.  I wonder what they will do with him after we catch him? They'll probably hang him or maybe throw him in prison for the rest of his life.  Maybe I will be honor by President Jackson for catching his killer. Then I will be known as a hero.

What is the main point of my book?

After the Civil War there was an event that changed history forever. Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth in Ford's Theatre. So the main point of my book isn't about the assassination but about catching the killer. The book is interesting because it's a non-fiction book about how they caught Mr. Booth but the way it is told makes it sound like a historical fiction. For my historical fiction I plan to talk about a view point of the chase. The view point will be from a made up character, but have real people from the chase. The conflict will most likely be the group has trouble finding and catching Booth before he's gone for good.

What motivates people?

There are many things that motivate people like money and fame. Money and fame are the biggest two of them all. They are because people are selfish and only want power. It motivates them but it will cost others a large amount of time and money. That is what I think motivates people the most.

Are there times when it is right to fight?

I think that at time you can fight, but not violent fighting. If you are going to fight it should be for something that you believe in. Not just because you want to fight make it because you think its right. Fighting doesn't always have to be violent, but it can be vocal. That means that you can use your word to fight.

Do you think that everybody has free will?

Free will is having control of your own destiny. Yes, everybody has free will but only if they don't let anybody in there way. If you let somebody take it away by getting in the way of your dreams then you don't have free will. I have this thought because of some of my observations from movies and real life.

Reflection

I think overall my discussion was great. My group was ready and all knew a lot about the topic. There is one thing that I wish we would of done a little better and that is have questions prepared just in case we ran out of stuff to talk about. This assignment was good practice for projects that we might have in other classes and later in the year in this class. The most challenging thing was keeping the conversation going. There were time when I was a little worried that it was going to stop short of the time. The thing that surprised me most was how long I conversation continued for. I was worried that we didn't have enough stuff but we did. That is what I got out of this project.

If I was in control of the school

There are many thing about the school that kids don't like about the school, but some of them you can't change. The first thing that I would change is make a rule that there is no homework on Fridays. That would make kids enjoy their weekend and will be ready to come back to school. Another thing is don't make kids take a world language in middle school. Lastly, I would make lunch earlier and during resource have a snack bar open for kids to buy snacks. Those are the changes I would make so kids would enjoy school more.

Tokyo Issues Tap Water Warnings

As you may know Japan was recently hit by a tsunami and earthquake. It destroyed thousands of dollar of their country. Now Japan faces another problem from the tsunami. The tap water isn't safe for the infants to drink. They said that the becquerel levels are 110 to high.
Japan has that problem but the weather is still not on their side. It's only raining but that might cause the bad tap water to migrate to other parts of Japan. So many infants are in danger of the dangerous water. It is starting to look like it will be a long time before Japan will recover from this natural disaster.

What is the best sport?

In my opinion the best sport is easily wrestling. It beats the other sports in many ways. You have to work harder, dedicate more time, and practice drills harder than any other sport. Plus, its not just a team sport. So that means that you don't have to wrestle with a team, you can go to tournaments by yourself. That is one of my favorite things about the sport. It is also a very competitive team sport. One of the best things about wrestling as a team, the wrestlers can only score up to 6 points. Then in other sports they can score as many as they can. That is the best part about wrestling with a team. Those are all the reason that wrestling is the best sport in my opinion.

What Superpower would I want?

If I could choose a super power I would choose the power to fly. The reason I would want that super power is because I could fly anywhere in the world when ever I want. Another reason is that if I am running late for something and I couldn't make it in a car, I could just fly. That is why I would choose to fly.

Can human beings ever be truly equal?

I think that human beings will never be equal. The reason is we need some people to be leaders and that would make them better than others. So that means they won't be truly equal. If we were created equal I think that the world would full of peace and there wouldn't be any war. So everybody would be happy. That's what I think the world would be like if we were all equal.
